Serving, Learning, and Leading

The EHCS Board of Trustees participated in a 3-hour Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Board Governance Training session the evening of September 23, 2010 at the school campus.  The session was led by Mr. David Ray, Florida Regional Director of ACSI.  Topics included:

  • The Role of an Effective Board
  • The Board’s Role as a Fiduciary Trustee
  • Responsibilities of the Board & the Chief Administrator
  • Decision Making
  • Strategic Planning
  • Importance of the Matthew 18 Principle
  • Servant Leadership

A question and answer session followed and board members had the opportunity to discuss topics specifically unique to EHCS.  Mr. Ray was very complimentary of EHCS and expressed the utmost confidence in our future.  He will return to EHCS with an ACSI Accreditation Team October 27, 28, &29th to conduct an official site visit of our school.  Teachers, administrators, board members, and parents have been diligently working on a Self-Study Report of EHCS for the past year in anticipation of this visit. Accreditation is one of the most widely recognized ways of verifying the academic integrity of a school.  ACSI is the largest Christian School organization and is recognized internationally for its mission and standards of excellence in education.

Attitude and Altitude

EHCS Seniors got away from the usual school day for an overnight trip to Adventures Unlimited. It was a chance to have fun and bond as a class, but sponsors and students alike talked about the greater lessons learned on this retreat. The seniors were able to go tubing, which is always a favorite at Adventures Unlimited. They were also able to enjoy hanging out in their own cabin and have a bonfire. A faculty member gave the students a challenge about attitude which was illustrated by the next day’s activity. They were able to complete a challenging high ropes course while learning about collaboration, teamwork, and motivation. We’ve included some pictures below!
