On Friday, November 05, East Hill Christian School’s Varsity Soccer Team defeated Carroll of Maryland (4-3) to place third place in the National Association of Christian Athletes Division II soccer tournament in Dayton, TN.  In a battle of 40 degree temperatures, rain, and sleet, Thomas McGhee (senior) and Tucker Ward (sophomore) led the team to a 3-3 tie in the first three quarters of the game.  With sixty seconds left in the game, Zach Miller (senior) scored the winning goal on a direct kick.

East Hill belonged in Division III based on school size, but was placed in a higher division because of their high scoring season.  The Eagles defeated teams from Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland to take third place in the nation in their division.

Seniors Zach Miller (offense) and Alex Smith (defense) made All Tournament Team and Alex Smith was chosen as defensive player of Division II.  According to Angie Wood, Headmaster of the school, “these men and women were winners before they even got on that bus to go to Nationals.  They are an amazing group of young men and women, and I am proud of the character they show on the field, and off.  They are a true testament of what a Christian athlete should be.”

Under the leadership of Coaches Ken Hargrove and Randy Gibson, East Hill Christian finished their season 15-2, with 50 goals and only giving up 17 throughout the season.  Hargrove says of the team- “these boys played above their league and came away winners.”
