The title of today’s article comes from the theme for this year’s ACSI conventions. The faculty at EHCS had the opportunity to go to Birmingham, AL on February 2-3 for a time of learning, rejuvenation, and fellowship. In general sessions, teachers learned about the “big picture” of Christian education and its overall impact in the Kingdom of God. We were encouraged to hear that tens of thousands of new Christian schools were added internationally throughout 2010. Some of them in far-off places such as South Korea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the governments have been so impressed by Christian education that they actually pay for students to attend or even build the schools themselves. (Isn’t school choice a wonderful thing?!?) Your teachers were able to give to supply curriculum and materials for some of the schools in the Congo.

In individual sessions, teachers were able to learn of the latest studies on the fossil record, which supports Creationism, from Dr. John Morris of the Institute for Creation Research. They were also able to learn about helping students in math, science, and English classes, developing writing skills, technology in the classroom, and developing the arts in students. A lot of discussion took place on the ride home as teachers shared information with each other and determined how to implement this new information in their classrooms. It’s a great time to be working for His Kingdom!
Varsity Girls’, under the coaching of Brianna Smith, performed a portion of the routine that earned them second place at FCC Nationals. An all-squads routine was enjoyed by the crowd. All basketball teams were introduced as was the homecoming court. In the end, our alumni judges, Kristina Trail, Michael Mooney, Missy Pitts, Cameron Fink and Cheyenne Clevenger awarded the spirit stick to eighth grade for middle school and sophomores took down the seniors for the high school.
