God’s blessings are apparent in every aspect of our school- academics, athletics, student leadership, community outreach, and spiritual emphasis. The following is a final portion from Dr. Wood’s State of the School address.

When we talk about our school as a partnership, we are talking about a working, enjoyable relationship between the school,  families, and alumni.  I am excited about where East Hill has been, and I am even more excited about where East Hill is going.  Re-enrollment is going well, and we are getting daily phone calls, giving daily tours, and conducting interviews for new families.  We are currently working on an academic strategic plan for the entire campus, and a technology plan.

Mr. Witter and myself are brainstorming in our planning meetings and developing new classes, new approaches to current classes, and new opportunities for professional development for our teachers.  East Hill has overcome the battles of the past.  We are committed to taking the time now to not only survive but to move forward.  East Hill Christian School is going to step out and be the school that God wants us to be- spiritually, academically, athletically.  We are in this for His purpose and it is time for us to follow His plan and succeed.  I cannot wait to see what God has in store for the future of our school- through His grace!

Mambo Italiana!

The third annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction was held Thursday, March 24th.

The evening is always one of the favorites for the school as the gym is transformed into an Italian Cafe’ complete with live music, an East Hill slide show, and lots of great conversation.  Our High School students served a delicious three-course meal to several hundred people.  In addition, there were many great items to bid on at the silent auction, and this year was the  biggest and best yet.

As you can see from the auction link, auction items ranged from artwork and photography to gift cards to gift baskets to free condo and hotel rental! PTF was able to raise over $8,000 to fund other projects and events around the school. Many thanks go to all those who supported the evening through attending, serving, donating, or bidding.  We are already looking forward to 2012!

EHCS Awarded Education Grant

East Hill Christian School has received a $750.00 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support the school’s science program.  Puckett Oil Company Inc. of Pensacola, Florida worked with school officials to secure the grant, which is one of 2,400 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations.  The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.  ExxonMobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

Puckett Oil Company, and Richard Puckett, met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded this grant, including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.

East Hill Christian School hosted its third annual fall festival on October 8th.  It was an amazing afternoon full of great activities!  There were over 25 exciting activities, with some of our more popular items being the “Jail and Bail”, “Pie in the Face”, and the favorite “Dunk Tank”.  This year students got to nominate who they wanted to pie and dunk, and those nominated were excellent sports and suffered through the cold water and chocolate flavored whipped cream with smiles on their faces.  The Parent Teacher Fellowship did a great job of organizing this event, and it was enjoyed by more than 250 people.  The fall festival is one of our important fall fundraisers here at East Hill, and this year was a success, bringing in a little over $4,000!

The elementary school participated in its first Pajama Drive for Families First Network. Their goal was to bring in 50 new pairs of pajamas for children in foster care. By the last day, students brought in over 80 new pairs of pj’s for area children. The MS/HS continues to bring in new and gently used clothing for teens in foster care. At over 200 items donated, we’ve been able to meet the needs of children and teenagers of a variety of ages. Please continue to give to this need.

God is good- all the time!
